Faux New Yorker Cover: The Alt Girl With A Pearl Earring
***DISCLAIMER: I have not, nor do I claim to have worked with The New Yorker, nor do I claim the rights to their title or logo. This is simply a student work and serves only that purpose at this time.***
Anyway… like I said, this was a New Yorker Cover Assignment given to me during my Illustration Workshop Class as part of my Bachelor’s Degree Program. The concept was to do a spoof on a classic artwork, in this case, the Girl With A Pearl Earring by Johannes Vermeer. In my version, the girl is a modern woman with an alternative fashion sense, not only with a titular pearl earring, but multiple piercings, tattoos and a hair cut to match. In the background is an array of other earrings (each of which are based on a real pair I own.)
